Female Atheist Bloggers Who Rock My World!

I would like to put the focus/spotlight on blogs I love to read. I love to read what women atheists have to say and I want to share some of the best blogs that I read. After reading, if you think I need to add anymore, please let me know. I am sure I have left out some awesome ones and would love to add them!

Check out this blogger! This particular article address the hypocricy of christians who focus on one verse in Leviticus and use it to fuel thier hatred of gay people, but who totally ignore the other verses. Check out Monica's whole blog!!http://www.monicks.net/2009/09/12/11-things-the-bible-bans-but-you-do-anyway/
Greta Christina is one blogger who, after I read her pieces, either on this blog or http://www.alternet.org/belief/151241/10_scariest_states_to_be_an_atheist/?page=entire (AlterNet) I always end up saying to myself: "Wow! I wish I could have said it that way" She puts many of my views into words. She is actually my hero! You may also enjoy Greta Christina's blogs on sex and sexuality. Check her out for sure!! If you only read one piece written by Greta Christina I would highly recommend this one: Why are atheists sometimes angry? Here is Greta Christina's take on it. http://gretachristina.typepad.com/greta_christinas_weblog/2007/10/atheists-and-an.html

Christine is funny and sarcastic and she has entertaining "eye candy" :) Her writing is brilliant! I love her sense of humor. Here is how she introduces her blog: provides hottie jesus eye candy and in-depth analysis of life before, during, and after JC and company. Love it!

Next up: RosaRubicondior from the United Kingdom. Rosa calls herself:  A Centre-left atheist humanist with a rational view of the universe and deeply in awe of the this beautiful planet and the cosmos which produced it.  She is a very good writer and I have enjoyed reading her blog. Her latest is very funny and will make you go hmmmmm. http://rosarubicondior.blogspot.com/2011/07/just-imagine-if-science-was-religion.html

I also read a lot of Godless Girl's blog. Here is one of my favorites: http://www.godlessgirl.com/2010/01/am-i-an-angry-atheist/ I love her "Quote" section too. “Men never commit evil so fully and joyfully as when they do it for religious convictions” — Blaise Pascal

Vyckie Garrison

Her blog focus in on the "quiverfull" movement and I find her blog facinating. I can relate a lot to the way Vyckie Garrison was raised. I think she has used her writing like I have: A way to vent, share and infom others so we can pull out of the cloud religion leaves us under and see the sun! http://nolongerquivering.com/

Okay, I know I am writing about my favorite female bloggers, because I feel men get a lot of focus in the atheist world, but I have to include one dude because he is sooo cool and a great feminist. I don't think he will even mind me using the word. I love you! http://krissthesexyatheist.blogspot.com/2011/06/evangelical-feminismnow-ive-heard-it.html

Hugs and love to my friends here and please send me other favorite female bloggers and I will be glad to add them to my list. I am not a man-hater, but I think women in the atheist world need to be recognized for their awesome accomplishments. I love Sam, Richard and Christopher.. a lot... but I also want women to see great role models who are also women. (except Kriss... He is an exception because I think he is awesome)

Feel free to leave your respectful comments.

  1. Awh buddy, that is sooo nice. Funny thing, I often get mistaken for a woman-guess they don't look at my avatar.

Kind and gentle readers of this blog...follow my list of female atheist bloggers on twitter. Lot's on there. Funny, thing, my favorites were already mentioned.

    Awesomeness.

  2. off to go exploring your links.

had a massive awful weekend during which i may have lost two of my dearest, closest friends (2 of my 5 finger friends if that makes any sense?) and i told my son today i may go back to church to connect with others.

    he was horrified!

i assured him it would be either our UU church or Congregational church - right now i just need community and connections and support thought!

really? who the f*ck loses their marriage and 2 of their closest friends in one month?!? i'm reeling and the liberal UU venue may be a good way for me to build new connections. maybe.

    thanks for the links

  3. @Kriss, How cool we like some of the same bloggers. Thanks for all your support and comments! :)

@Deb, So sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. REALLY sorry to hear about your marriage. I didn't know that. BIG hugs to you. By losing your friends do you mean they quit being your friends? Or something happened to them? Remember last year when I was having a terrible summer? (This one is a little bit better, but not by much) The ONLY friends I had (a group of friends and about 3 others) either moved, or treated me so badly I had to dump them as friends. It was very, very horrible to me- on top of losing my support from my family. I am serious when I say message me on Twitter anytime and I can chat, or you can call me. I hope you can find a support system in the UU church. We need support and I am very sorry about your tough times. May you be back on the road to peace and recovery soon my friend. ((HUGS))

  5. You truly are a healer for those that seek your wisdom. Perhaps you should have gone into Nursing. It would seem a natural fit. I see the compassion and caring in your replies and see how much you want to help people with their pain. I think a lot that's happened can be explained by taking a closer look at this. I'm sorry I ever lost sight of the true YOU!!!

  6. @Lori -

    Thanks <3

Lost the friends through their getting all worked up over a communication snafu and verbally attacking me in a truly intimidating way - and now it seems one of the friends spouse has decided to bow out of our friendship as well - it was scary to be yelled at and threatened and shocking too - sure as hell not the way i treat people when i'm upset with them!

If they want to try again i'm not sure i am open to that - i did not deserve that & neither did my kids (the whole thing happened on a camping trip) - just not.cool.

Are we connected on Twitter? i just tried to log in and Twitter once again crashed my computer - no idea why it keeps doing that...

i'd love to connect with you via email if you're interested (psbohemian (at) yahoo dot com) ...

and i did enjoy following those links btw - thx again for sharing them :)

A search for the phrase, "lyings of a woman" and also for the two words (centurion pais) will lead you to some eye opening information on the bible and homosexuality. If it was OK with Jesus why are these alleged Christians so opposed?

I also came from a link on twitter by Vyckie Garrison and I wanted to recommend Love, joy, feminism by Libby Anne. A former fundamentalist Q/CP christian homeschooled girl who now is a feminist progressive atheist blogger. She has recently joined freethought blogs too.

  14. Oh, this list is great! And it's lovely to see a UKer on the list- I think I'm always short of skeptic/atheist perspectives from this side of the pond.
